- Yes, the C100, C110 and C120 work as a baby monitor, with infrared night vision and a microphone. The only thing they lack compared to the C200 is pan and tilt.
- C100 or C110: the C100 is 1080p with infrared to about 40 feet; the C110 has a sharper 2K picture. Both connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only and detect a baby crying in the Tapo app.
- Placement is the whole trick: a fixed camera has to see the entire mattress from where it sits. A shelf or wall mount above the crib's side usually does it.
- The one setting: a Camera Account in the Tapo app. Then Mamoon finds the camera on your Wi-Fi and wakes you for crying, with your phone locked and the nursery sound muted.

- Tapo C100: 1080p, 117° diagonal view, infrared to about 40 feet, BabyCry Detection in the Tapo app, 2.4 GHz only. The cheapest Tapo that does the job.
- Tapo C110: 2K (2304 × 1296), infrared to about 30 feet, BabyCry Detection, 2.4 GHz only.
- Tapo C120: works the same way with Mamoon; we haven't confirmed its cry detection, so check the box before you count on it.
Would you rather follow the baby around the crib from bed? Then a pan-and-tilt Tapo C200 or C210 costs only a little more.
What the Tapo app already does for a baby
The same as on the C200: live view, two-way talk and free cry detection on the camera, and the same night-time gaps (the app closes when the phone's screen is off, and there's no crying-versus-fussing level). The details are in Tapo app vs Mamoon.
Setting it up with a baby monitor app
- Set the camera up in the Tapo app as usual and connect it to your Wi-Fi.
- Create a Camera Account: Tapo app › camera › ⚙ › Advanced Settings › Camera Account. Choose a name and a password (6–32 characters). It's not your TP-Link login.
- In Mamoon choose “Wi-Fi camera”. It finds the Tapo on your Wi-Fi by itself; type that name and password.
- Aim it at the crib (pan and tilt right from Mamoon) and pick when it should wake you: only crying, crying and fussing, or every sound.
On a fixed camera, the last step is where you put it rather than where you turn it. The Tapo setup guide walks through the same steps with pictures.
Good to know
- C100, C110: Connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
- Tapo allows about three viewers at once, and only two of Tapo Care, microSD recording and ONVIF together; if Mamoon can't see it, turn one off.
- C100, C110: Also detects crying by itself in the Tapo app, free. Mamoon adds crying-versus-fussing, an alert with the nursery sound muted, and a night screen (compare).
Night vision and placement for a fixed camera
Both switch to invisible infrared by themselves, so you get a clear black-and-white picture with the lights off. Because the lens can't move, frame the crib once and well:
- On a shelf or wall, 3–6 feet from the crib and higher than the mattress, angled down so all four corners are in view.
- The cord at least 3 feet from the crib and out of reach; not aimed at a window, where the glass reflects the infrared.
More in where to put a baby monitor camera.
Where Mamoon fits: This is what Mamoon is built for. It finds your Tapo C100 on the Wi-Fi by itself, listens for crying on your phone, tells crying from fussing, and wakes you even with the nursery sound muted. No cloud, no account. Sound and cry alerts free forever.
Where the maker's app still wins: two-way talk, recordings and watching from work without a VPN. Mamoon does none of those; it's for the night shift, and both apps can use the camera at the same time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Tapo C100 as a baby monitor?
Yes. It has infrared night vision, a microphone and BabyCry Detection in the Tapo app. With a Camera Account it also works in a baby monitor app like Mamoon, which keeps listening when your phone is locked and tells crying from fussing.
Is a camera without pan and tilt good enough for a crib?
Usually, yes. A crib is small and stays put; a camera on a shelf a few feet away sees all of it. Pan and tilt helps when the baby moves to a big bed, or when you want to check the rest of the room.
Tapo C100 or C110?
The C110 has the sharper 2K picture, which helps when you zoom in. The C100 is cheaper and sees infrared a bit farther. Both work the same way as a baby monitor.
Does the Tapo C100 work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No, the C100 and C110 connect to 2.4 GHz only. Most home routers broadcast both bands, so the camera joins 2.4 GHz and your phone can stay on whichever it likes.
